In previous articles, I have discussed the importance of 3D archery for bowhunters attempting to increase their success in the fall. While that is definitely true, there are a lot of shooters who never intend to shoot an animal with their bow. They simply enjoy the mystical flight of an arrow, the associated challenge and most importantly, the community.
I don't have the words to explain the joy that can be brought from sharing a day with like minded people, enjoying the outdoors. However, we all know that community is one of the most important things a person can have. Loneliness is a literal killer and despite constant connection through social media, more young people than ever feel alone.
At our local club, Wolf Run Bowhunters, we pride ourselves in making sure that every person who joins us is comfortable, informed and a part of the family. While not every club in the country may be this way, as a well traveled archer, I can confidently say that we are not outliers.
So if you enjoy the outdoors, archery, hunting and want to hone your craft sprint to your local 3D and see what you've been missing. If you haven't dipped your toes into the world of archery yet and want to learn, show up anyway! Ask questions, get to know folks, walk the course and see what it is all about. If you weren't interested before, you surely will be after!
Here's a video of our latest shoot at Wolf Run. I try to show more of the community factor than the shooting itself to help make this point. I hope to see you at the next one!
